All Good Things [13 Apr 2010|10:25pm]
As of today, April the 13th, I am retiring this Livejournal.

For some years it has been near impossible to write in.

Simply put, I've outgrown it.

It was a necessary crutch during a very important part in the development of my adult life and I have decided to let it go.

Current profession:
I am casting director on a feature film that is being released nationwide and in over 1200 theaters.

That's a LONG way from the kid who had yet to graduate high school.

Sexymuppet is going out with a bang.

My new blog, which I hope to update daily, will be found at http://obvg.blogspot.com

The Observations of a Blustery Victorian Gentleman, as I was once described.

I give you all my best and hope you keep in touch.

Note, I will NEVER use Myspace, Facebook, or Twitter.

Those that are trying to keep in touch with me can at the following:

Email: grantellis1@comcast.net
Website: http://gre591.aisites.com
Blog: http://obvg.blogspot.com

Tchau!

Cyrano [23 Mar 2010|09:58pm]
It’s quite wonderful… in darkness. You see a cloak of blackness.
I see a dress of summer white.
I’m but a shadow. You are a light. I’m using my true voice.
In this dark night which protects me, I can be myself. And I dare…
Where was I? I don’t know… all of this. Forgive my emotion. It’s this sweet, new sensation.
I can be honest. Fear of mockery gripped my breast.
(Mockey) for my feelings! My heart, in modesty, cloaks itself in art!
Ah, “art.” How I hate that in love!
It’s a crime, in love, to play this pantomime.
There always has to come a moment…
And I pity those who know it not when we a noble love attain but each pretty word causes pain.
(What word will you find for us when that moment comes?)
All those, all those… which come.
Everything, I throw away. I’m stifling!
I love you. This is no game! My heart cries your name!
I’ve loved you every passing day.
Last year, on the twelfth of May, you changed the style of your hair.
I was dazzled by its bright flare. Do you understand?
Do you realize? Do you feel my soul rise to the skies?
Everything tonight is so wonderful, so sweet. I speak, you listen.
Me, at your feet!
Even in my sweetest dreams, I never planned on this.
Now I must die.
My poem makes her tremble (in the boughs.)
I feel the shaking of your hand come down along this jasmine strand.

Now that it's time
Now that the hour hand has landed at the end
Now that it's real
Now that the dreams have given all they had to lend
I want to know do I stay or do I go
And maybe try another time
And do I really have a hand in my forgetting ?

Now that I've tried
Now that I've finally found that this is not the way,
Now that I turn
Now that I feel it's time to spend the night away
I want to know do I stay or do I go
And maybe finally split the rhyme
And do I really understand the undernetting ?

Yes and the morning has me
Looking in your eyes
And seeing mine warning me
To read the signs carefully.

Now that it's light
Now that the candle's falling smaller in my mind
Now that it's here
Now that I'm almost not so very far behind
I want to know do I stay or do I go
And maybe follow another sign
And do I really have a song that I can ride on ?

Now that I can
Now that it's easy, ever easy all around.
Now that I'm here
Now that I'm falling to the sunlights and a song
I want to know do I stay or do I go
And do I have to do just one
And can I choose again if I should lose the reason ?

Yes, and the morning
Has me looking in your eyes
And seeing mine warning me
To read the signs more carefully.

Now that I smile,
Now that I'm laughing even deeper inside.
Now that I see,
Now that I finally found the one thing I denied
It's now I know do I stay or do I go
And it is finally I decide
That I'll be leaving
In the fairest of the seasons.

Web Site [15 Nov 2009|07:36pm]
I had to hand code a website for a school project.

Here's what I came up with in a few hours of work:
http://gre591.aisites.com/

I would like to do a written and photo breakdown of the process I use to handcode websites, if anyone who reads this is interested in how a web-geezer like me approaches this feel free to comment.

It's not one of mine, but worth a watch... or two. [23 Sep 2009|10:14pm]
And I'll tell you why....

I want to be a "Jim Henson" someday.

I enjoy creation so much, especially with what I've been doing full-time for the past two years as a filmmaker.

This song always spoke to me, it just makes sense.

The story told in the video means something to me, even if I can't articulate it in a well crafted "blog" entry on livejournal (not that this LJ gets read anymore.)

But even if there are no readers, this one is worth throwing up there.

My 48hr Film Project [17 Aug 2009|07:24pm]

We are competing in the San Jose 48hr Film Project.

Teams are assigned a random genre, then a required character, prop, and line of dialogue.

We ended up with.
Random Genre: Drama
Required Prop: Board Game Piece
Required Character: Zack the Exterminator
Required Dialogue: "Tell me again why this matters."

You then have from 7pm Friday night until 7:00 PM Sunday night to write, shoot, and edit a movie.
Even the music has to be written in this time.

I was in charge of Lighting and then Post Production, so I worked 41.5 of the 48 hours.

One line of dialogue is out of sync, but we just didn't have time to fix it.
(We delivered it with less than a minute to spare

"I know I can do it," Todd Downey said, helping himself to another ear of corn from the steaming bowl. "I'm sure that in time, every bit of her will be gone and her death will be a mystery... even to me."

The Investigation [09 Dec 2008|07:06pm]
Recently produced my second student film, The Investigation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ab-sZxWRXIQ

Many thanks to Eden, for graciously starring in it, and Marshall for composing the beautiful score.

The Producer, Director, DP TRIO was assigned off of a job interview at school, with me taking the role of producer, while two great artists helping create the original vision and style of the film.

We had to constantly be on top of things, and it is a shame youtube killed some of the original quality and the render came out a tad darker than the dvd.
